A clockwork god for the desk. Turn the sunburst heart in its chest and both blade-feather wings swing open together, driven by a gear train hidden in its spine.
It stands 7.1 in tall on a 24-tooth gear pedestal, 11.2 in across with its wings open, and weighs 4.5 oz.
It starts at the heart. The orange sunburst in the chest is the one control on the statue: a knob you turn clockwise with a fingertip.
Behind the sunburst, on the same axle, sits a small gear with 16 teeth. Here the chest and helm are drawn see-through so you can watch it turn.
Those teeth drive a 24-tooth gear at the root of the left wing. A 60° turn of the heart swings the wing 40°.
The left wing’s gear turns the right wing’s, tooth for tooth, on the centre line. The two wings can only move together, as mirror images.
Each fan of 7 blades rises from 28° below level to 12° above it.
At the end of the turn the heart clicks into place and the wings hold open, 11.2 in from tip to tip. Turn it back and they fold.
