The clutch
A soft pillow of fish scales under a gold frame, 8.8 in across and 5.4 in tall to the top of the knobs.
A koi’s scales, pearl to coral, made into an evening bag with a gold kiss-lock frame.
A soft pillow of fish scales under a gold frame, 8.8 in across and 5.4 in tall to the top of the knobs.
Row after row of rounded scales, each linked to its neighbours and lapping over the row below. They fade in 4 bands, pearl at the top to coral at the hem, the way a koi colours.
Two arched gold bars, hinged at the sides, meet across the top. A ball knob rises from each bar, and the two cross over each other to close it.
From a small loop at each end of the frame, oval gold links fall in a loose curve: about 23 in, a short chain for the shoulder or the hand.
Lifted apart it is 3 pieces: the scale body, the frame with its knobs, and the chain. No glue and no stitching hold them.
Back in one piece with the chain laid beside it: 5.3 oz with the chain, all of it PLA.
Shown side by side at their true size against each other.
Rows of rounded scales in 4 colour bands, folded into a soft pillow.
Two gold bars hinged at the sides, with two ball knobs that cross to close.
Oval gold links, about 23 in long, clipped to the frame’s two loops.
8.8 in wide, 5.4 in tall and 2.2 in deep: a bag for an evening, not a day. The frame opens wide enough for a phone up to 5.8 × 2.8 in.
The colour runs down the bag the way it runs down a koi: palest at the frame, warmest at the hem. Every band is its own colour of scale, so the fade is built row by row rather than painted on.
Pick a band to see where it sits on the bag.
Three pieces in the box.
The frame’s opening is sized for a phone up to about 5.8 × 2.8 in.
PLA, all of it: the scales, the frame, the knobs and the chain. There is no glue, no stitching and no metal hardware.
The chain is about 23 in long: a short chain to wear on the shoulder or carry in the hand, not a crossbody strap.
No. The inside is the scale body itself; there is no lining, pocket or magnet.
Like a classic kiss-lock purse: the gold ball knob on each bar of the frame crosses over the other to hold the two bars together.
