A city pack for the Moonlit Atlas book
Toronto
One needle of a tower stands over everything in this set: the CN Tower, rising above the bank towers, with Casa Loma's copper turrets on the hill and red maples on a brick street below. Put it in your Moonlit Atlas, press the brass button, and Toronto stands up on a clear northern night.
The Moonlit Atlas book, closed: 8.1 × 6.7 × 2.5 in. With this pack, Toronto is what folds flat inside it. Scroll to open it before dark.
Press the brass button. Two torsion springs lift the lid, a gear damper keeps it slow, and three rows of the city stand up with it, upright at 90°, the tower highest of all.
The CN Tower: a slim pale shaft with its round pod two thirds of the way up and a needle on top, over white, blue-glass and teal bank towers, with the Rogers Centre's white dome at its foot.
In front of the towers, Casa Loma stands on its green hill: a sandstone castle with two round towers under copper-green cones and a steep green roof.
Down on the street, a red-and-white streetcar runs past red-brick bay-and-gable houses and the narrow Gooderham Flatiron with its green roof, under red maples and old lamp posts.
At the front, Lake Ontario fills the tray: the island ferries at the dock, a sailboat, red canoes and a lighthouse on the island. From the water, the whole skyline stands behind them, the way Toronto looks from the ferry.
Lights out. Windows glow in the bank towers, along Casa Loma and the brick houses, in the streetcar and the ferry, and the street lamps and the lighthouse come on. They glow in the dark: no batteries, no wires.
