A hand-crank desk fidget. Set it on a desk or windowsill within reach of your fingers. Give the drive wheel a turn between calls or while reading, and the orbit wheel clicks forward one notch at a time, a small, screen-free fidget for anyone who likes tinkering with a mechanism instead of a phone.

How one turn moves six. Turn the drive wheel by hand and its comet pin sweeps into one of six slots cut around the orbit wheel beside it, pushing that wheel forward exactly one station before the pin clears and it stops dead. No motor, no battery, six turns carry the orbit wheel full circle.

Finish and fit. Each wheel keeps a fine layer finish across its face, with the orbit wheel's slots and the shallow round hollows in the drive wheel cut clean rather than sanded. The axle seats both wheels flush on the base so they turn without wobble, and seams tuck to the back where they never show.
