How a pawn changes rank. Turn a promoted pawn's built-in selector and it locks into one of five positions, queen, rook, bishop, knight, or pawn, so the same piece keeps standing in for its new role instead of a spare token. Every pawn on the board carries this integral switch.

A board that only fits one way. The board's a1 corner is keyed so it seats dark-square first, ending setup guesswork. Each piece's base carries one of two tactile base patterns, River or Street, so players tell their side by feel alone. Closed, the whole set fits an 8.6-inch square case just 5.3 inches tall.

What's inside the case. The set comes as a full 32-piece orthodox army plus the keyed board, the design carrying Ho Chi Minh City skyline motifs from play through storage. Once a game ends, board and pieces stack back inside the case, its lid holding the same skyline in profile.
