A twist-and-turn owl for any desk. Set Quarterhoot on a windowsill or desk and lower the owl body onto its nest: three shaped feet slide through curved grooves in the base and twist the owl about 30 degrees as it settles into place. How the turn works. Lower the owl body into its nest and three shaped feet on its underside drop into curved grooves molded into the base. As the feet descend, the grooves steer them sideways, turning the owl about 30 degrees before it settles flat. Flip the nest over and the grooves curve the other way, so the next twist turns the owl in the opposite direction.

Fit, finish and feel. Quarterhoot stands about 2.7 inches tall on a 3.3-inch round nest, sized to rest in one palm. Fine layer lines run across the domed head, rounded wings and curved nest rim, and the feet are shaped to seat snugly in the grooves so the twist stays smooth and consistent each time the owl is set down.

Two pieces, one twist. Quarterhoot comes as two pieces: the owl body, with two ear tufts, round eyes and three shaped feet on its underside, and the round nest with the curved grooves that guide those feet. Seat the body into the nest to align the feet with the grooves; lift it out and flip the nest to reverse which way the next twist turns.
