These days we could all use a chance to have fun, be creative, and engage in a little friendly competition. That’s why we’ve launched the DIY campaign! All you need is paint, some brushes, a creative mind, a vision, and the drive to create something amazing from a blank canvas—the spacious desk top of a SmartDesk 2!

How can you benefit?

The DIY campaign from Autonomous is an incredible opportunity for artists to not only share their amazing work with the world, but to build up their own home office with the best ergonomic tools on the market, and even win a huge cash prize.

All qualified applicants will receive a free, brand new SmartDesk 2 valued up to $399! This desk will not only be theirs to keep, but it will serve as the canvas they use to create their work of art. The winning submission will receive a cash prize of $2,000, and might even be featured as a top product in our online store. The top 5 entries with the highest vote count will be reproduced and sold as limited edition pieces!

How can you join our DIY Campaign?

It’s easy to participate in the Autonomous DIY campaign. Just follow the steps outlined below, and show us just how creative and innovative you can be!

Step 1: Complete the registration form here and submit it together with your visual portfolio, showcasing previous work that would be relevant to this design challenge, no later than Friday, March 5th, 2021.

Step 2: All successful applicants will be notified via email. Please note that this campaign is only available in the United States.

Step 3: Now the anticipation builds. Wait to receive your free, all-new SmartDesk 2!

Step 4: Get down to business, flex your creativity, and show us what you’ve got. Get your paint brushes out, your colors organized, and create your very own unique SmartDesk 2 masterpiece that reflects your personal art style.

Step 5: Send a digital render of your completed table top artwork to Autonomous no later than Monday, March 22nd, 2021. Your submission must include at least three high quality images of your work. An optional HD video that documents your work progress will earn you brownie points and help your chances!

Why Art Matters

Throughout the pandemic, artists have been some of the hardest-hit professionals in the world, with venues shutting down, museums and galleries closed, and few online opportunities—especially for artists struggling to make ends meet in the new gig economy.

Yet we all still need art in our lives. Though artists may be deemed “non-essential,” there are so many ways artists and their art are a vital part of the human experience. Though American politics are divisive and not everyone was comforted by the events of that day, the simple purity of an artist and her poetry seemed to rise above the turmoil and give the proceedings an unprecedented dimension of humanity.
