Virtual offices and work from home have many benefits, but one thing that limits most people is the constant need for a stable connection. Especially for people who live in areas with poor reception, achieving a perfect home network setup that keeps you connected to your teammates and clients is essential.

This also means that your home office gadgets should be under constant availability as any missed email or online meeting could cost you some huge loss. Hence a reliable home internet setup can simply be home office essentials. Though setting up a home network is easy and given, you might need some accessories to get a network that doesn't let you down. Signal boosters are one common type of office accessory to improve your connection with the world.

This article will discuss all the reasons for having a cell phone signal booster for home and a step-by-step guide on how to set up a home network.

What do you Need for A Home Wired Network Setup?

Since you are catching reception and planning to throw signals farther away, there will be lots of components involved. To set up a home network successfully, you need the following items.

A Modem: Modem is basically where the formation of connection begins. When you purchase internet service, the modem is usually provided by the internet service provider. The modem connects your devices to the internet by forming a connection with your phone line.

Router: the second device you need to form a connection is the router. A router is required since a modem can only connect one device to the internet. This serves as both a hub and a firewall, allowing you to connect your various wired and wireless devices to the network while also adding security to your connection by password-protecting access or blocking specific types of network traffic.

It can also help direct data to specific devices and allow numerous devices on the network to send data to one another and access the internet in general via the modem.

Ethernet Cables: when it comes to routers, there are two types: wired and wireless. And you need a set of Ethernet cables to make the wired router work. An Ethernet cable will connect your said device, such as laptop, TV or PC, with the router for a wired router. Ethernet cables also come in different features and specifications.

In the case of wireless networks, there is no need for cables. The connection is formed with the help of the router range though you could also use some repeaters or a portable cell signal booster to increase the range of routers.

How to Set Up a Home Network?

How to Set Up a Home Network?

Setting up a home network requires connecting all the hardware to form a suitable line. The initial step is to connect and start your modem. The modem plugs into the phone line and provides the start of the connection. After connecting your modem to the phone power line, turn it on.

Secondly, you need to check whether your modem works as a router too or alone just as a modem. If your modem has a router function, you need to turn it off. This is particularly to prevent any interference with the router's signals. You need to log into the admin panel to turn off your modem and set it into bridge mode.

Modems come with a user manual that has all the details on logging in to the admin panel. Check that to ensure you are doing everything right. If your modem/router has its Wi-Fi connection, you can disable it in the Wi-Fi settings as well — just make sure you're connected to your new home network setup with an Ethernet cable first, or you'll lose it.

Once you have achieved that, turn on your router and connect it to the modem through an Ethernet cable. Check for the LAN port to connect the Ethernet cable; if there is no LAN port, then using the Ethernet port marked as 0 or 1 will do the job.

Once the home network setup is achieved, you need to log in to the router just like you did with the modem. Login and change the password to something less easy and more complex. Since it is common for hackers to guess the passwords and even mess up your internet security system, upgrading the firmware while you're at it is also a good idea. The manufacturer's website has the most recent firmware available for download. This can help to improve security and ensure that the router is performing to its full capability.

Afterward, connect your devices to the router, and it is advised to use a fixed IP address that will be constantly connected with the network. If you intend to extend your network using Wi-Fi extenders, adapters, or network switches, do so now and configure them according to the manufacturer's instructions. After they're set up, you can start adding devices to the network by plugging them into a free Ethernet port on the router or by using an Ethernet cable in home network setup to connect them to the router.

Why use A Signal Booster?

Why use A Signal Booster?

In many cases, the common question is whether signal boosters work to answer yes. This is because a signal booster uses the technique of amplification and repetition to amplify the signals and increase the clarity. Moreover, they are also a cheaper alternative to get faster internet speeds which is hard to get otherwise. Many people use signal boosters for multiple purposes, and here are some benefits of using a signal booster for your home network setup.

Better Clarity

Signal boosters improve the signal strength of mobile network signals, allowing you to make clearer calls with less noise and distortion. New signal boosters reduce technical noise in voice calls, giving you a clearer, better-sounding voice over the phone.

Allows Mobility

Signal boosters are ideal for people who work while traveling and aren't aware of the Wi-Fi condition in other parts. They are also helpful in the journey, so you don't lose important connectivity.

Stable Connection

Some parts of your home might have a stable network, while some suffer from poor reception. With a signal booster, you can easily combat this issue. Especially for people that live in large buildings or nearby a construction site, it is common to suffer from poor reception.
