Storage shelf
All the prepared goods need some place to relax. A shelf allows all the pots to rest in the open air. Shelves are usually made of simple wood, but you can also choose to create one by drilling holes in the wall and attaching wareboards. This would create some storage without taking up too much space in your backyard pottery shed.
Tool storage
For proper potting shed setup, a tool storage area with a mobile cart with a shelf is the most recommended option. You can choose the number of shelves you need depending on the total production targets.
Clay storage
Clay is the basic item in a home potting shed, and it can't be stored anywhere in our ADU. So, make sure to create a shelf raised just a few inches off the ground to keep the area underneath clean and clear of dust. Clay left on the shelf for a long time can create silica, which can be dangerous if inhaled for a long.

FAQs

A functional pottery shed needs space for a wheel, work table, clay storage, and drying areas arranged in a clear workflow. You’ll also need access to water for cleanup and proper electrical support if you plan to use a kiln. Many home pottery studios are organized into zones for shaping, drying, and firing. A structured layout keeps the process efficient and reduces mess during daily use.
