How to Choose a Brown Leather Office Chair for Executive Offices?

You’ve come to the realization that your workplace would look perfect with a brown leather office chair at your desk. This is a great moment for you; making that decision hasn’t been easy. Then you go out and try to find potentially the best ergonomic chair that’s brown on the market.

When you do this, you realize that there are a ton of brown leather office desk chairs out there. Each of the chairs feature a unique design, and even though the “leather” looks similar, modern synthetic materials can feel different from traditional options. With so many brown leather executive office chairs to choose from, it can be overwhelming to try and find the perfect one.

That’s why we took on this challenge and found five chairs that we feel could fit the bill for you. Before we introduce all of these chairs, though, we want to talk about what went into selecting these five.

Understanding Executive Office Aesthetics

When many people hear the word aesthetic, their minds tend to drift towards new-age ideas, particularly because it’s a popular term used to talk about personal outfits. We’re not referring to cool outfits in this situation, however. What we’re essentially talking about is the look and feel of the office.

You may have your eye on a vintage brown leather office chair. That’s all fine and dandy if your office has an old-school bookshelf as a backdrop and the place looks like it’s stuck in the 1980s. This is not a criticism of these types of office spaces; we’re just saying traditional options look better next to similar decor.

If the office, on the other hand, features more modern decor, then going with an ergonomic office chair that has some brown leather add-ons could be the best way forward. There are some high-back brown leather office chair options that we looked into, which can fit the bill here. You could certainly add a retro brown leather office chair to a modern office space, but it would look odd.

There are other elements that you’re going to need to keep in mind when choosing an office chair, of course. One of the first things that you should look into is how comfortable it is for long-term usage. Comfort doesn’t always equal puffiness.

Plenty of really uncomfortable options look from the outside like you’re going to be sitting on a cloud. When you actually sit in the chair for an hour, you may wish that you’d chosen a chair with lumbar support even if it didn’t look as presumptuous.

Understanding Executive Office Aesthetics

What other elements other than comfort and matching the existing decor are important in the buying process? One of the things that we feel many people don’t think too much about is the actual materials that any furniture is made from. You may be thinking, “I’m looking for a light brown leather office chair. I know the material that I want the chair to be made from. “

That’s a fair argument for sure, but did you consider the ongoing debate about bonded leather vs. faux leather? There are also plenty of synthetic or “vegan” options on the market. We don’t want to get too deep into that debate, particularly on the ethical side of the entire situation.

What we will say is that sometimes, the wear and tear on the different types of leather is not the same. If you’re wondering how to clean leather office chairs, this will vary depending on the specific type of leather that’s used to make each option. There are also so many different variations of a dark brown leather office chair, that you may want to consider another debate.

Is leather really the material that you want to tie yourself to, or can you hear an argument about mesh vs. leather chairs? Throwing different fabrics in the equation can make finding the right chair seemingly impossible, we know. It’s just that we don’t want you to be surprised when you search for a brown leather office chair with wheels, and you find a massive array of options available.

Coordinating with Other Office Furniture and Decor Elements

We’ve mentioned that choosing not only chairs but elements that match the existing decor of the office is essential. What are some of the ways that you can make sure that you do this accordingly? One of the easiest ways to ensure things match is to pick desk and seating combos that look alike.

You can mix and match the colors a bit if you like. If you’ve settled on brown tones, for example, it’s actually preferable to have a darker tone on one element and a lighter one on the other. The same tone of brown could look awkward in an office, a home, or any place for that matter.

If you want an office space to look vintage or traditional, that bookshelf that we were referencing is a perfect add-on that will contribute to creating that vibe. That old-school bookshelf filled with law books is a staple of attorney offices. There’s an argument to be made that these traditional themes can give clients a sense of comfort.

When they walk into a graphic designer's or an architect’s office, many people will probably expect to see all-white sit/stand desks that look futuristic. If you’re going to see a lawyer or even some doctors, there’s a sense of comfort and familiarity in vintage vibes that you can take advantage of.

The key here may be to figure out what you want the office to say about you or your business. This is especially true if you’re going to be receiving clients on-site. Once you have that idea down, it’s going to be easier to pick certain elements that can essentially tell that story for you.

Brown Leather Office Chair with Other Office Furniture and Decor Elements

Top Brown Leather Office Chairs for Executive Office

Since we know that there are just too many options to choose from, even though you’ve narrowed your search down to only brown chairs, here are the top options we found:

1. Hercules Series

This option just screams traditional chair at the top of its lungs. We kind of bashed on some of these options earlier, so we want to make amends for that. The first thing that you’re going to notice is that this chair has a much thicker seat and backrest area.

Certain modern options don’t do a good enough job of making the seat thick enough. What tends to happen is that you’ll feel the steel frame pressing up against your bottom when you sit down. Needless to say, this is not a feeling that anyone will likely be okay with long term.

It’s also an option that boasts the fact that it’s an office chair for a heavy person. You could be thinking to yourself that you qualify as big and tall, but that doesn’t mean you need something that can hold 500 lbs. That’s completely true, but you will benefit from the thicker seat that we mentioned.

Even if you press down on the seat as anyone naturally will when they sit down, it’s not going to feel uncomfortable. The price tag on this Hercules Series is another element that certainly surprised us. It’s a very sturdy chair that can have you searching for how to reupholster a leather chair in a few years because you want to keep it around.

Plus, you can get it for under $500? That’s not a bad deal at all!

2. Samuel

Some of you may be thinking that this is a black leather chair. The bamboo contour with its traditional brown color that extends to the chair armrests is, however, what allowed this option to sneak by. It’s not that we wanted to make this pick controversial, but the contrast in the color scheme can really benefit many office spaces.

The metal frame is another one of those elements that we liked. It pretty much guarantees that the chair is going to be around for a long time. You will also be surprised by just how durable the bamboo is.

If you’re looking for a lighter-tone chair, then maybe the upholstery version of this option is going to suit you the best. The only problem is that we really couldn’t add that chair to the list directly since there’s no leather on it. Overall, however, we get the sense that both options are extremely elegant.

This chair, in our opinion, also breaks one of the stigmas that people may have about leather chairs. That is, they need to be large and puffy and won’t look good in a modern office space. You could argue the opposite for this particular chair.

It may look out of place in a very traditional-looking workplace. If you’re going for a more vintage or aesthetic look, then it could fit right in.

3. ACME Jairo

This is the “simplest” option on the list so far, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. This can be a good chair for someone, for example, who doesn’t have a ton of office space to set up a larger seating arrangement.

In spite of the fact that you don’t have a ton of space, you want something that’s comfortable and elegant. What did have us a bit on the fence about this chair is that it’s a bit “harder” than some of the others on the list. Putting it right after a thicker, softer chair may not have been the best idea, now that we think about it.

One of the benefits of some of these “harder” chairs is that they tend to last longer than their softer counterparts. We can certainly acknowledge that this is an option that’s not going to top everyone’s list. It does, however, offer some unique elements that you may not get from what we’ve seen so far or from the last two members of the top five.

4. Zuri Furniture

Tradition meets modernity with this Zuri Furniture design. It’s one of those chairs that has a lot of things going for it. The first thing that stood out to us was that this was one of the few options that we’d feel comfortable putting in many different offices.

It features an ergonomic backrest frame. That’s something that we’ve found hard to come by in chairs that can look the part in retro-looking workplaces. The versatility that this chair brings in that particular realm is what guaranteed its spot on our list.

If, for whatever reason, you decide that brown is actually not the color that you’re looking for, you can choose one of the many color variations that this same model offers. We were actually a bit disappointed that there isn’t another brown tone within the color options. That’s one of the things that may keep people from choosing this chair.

That darker brown tone may not be one that every person can work with. Overall, however, it’s a great all-around option. We loved the fact that it’s truly an ergonomic chair and the price isn’t too steep.

5. Kingston Square

There’s no reason to hide the obvious here; the color of this chair is a bit on the darker side. You could make the argument that it’s made from black leather and a light brown frame. If you remember the first option on the list, you’ll know that we were very lenient with darker options.

Leaving some of the arguments about our criteria aside, this is a very stylish option for sure. The one thing that kind of had us shaking our heads was the fact that this looks like a 90s-style design. In our opinion it may not be such a versatile option as some of the others that we’ve looked at to this point.

This Kingston Square design could be one of those that fit really well around a table more so than behind a desk. It can be a major asset to the entire look and feel of both an office, or even a formal poker table at home. That’s another reason why it’s included in this top five!

6. Skyline Decor

Cleaning Guide: How to Clean a Brown Leather Desk Chair

To clean a brown leather desk chair, you can follow these steps:

  • Gather the necessary supplies

You'll need a soft cloth or sponge, mild leather cleaner, warm water, a small bucket or bowl, and leather conditioner.

  • Dust and remove loose dirt

Use a dry cloth or vacuum cleaner with a brush attachment to remove any dust, debris, or loose dirt from the chair's surface.

  • Prepare the cleaning solution

Fill the bucket or bowl with warm water and mix in a small amount of mild leather cleaner according to the manufacturer's instructions. Be sure to use a cleaner specifically designed for leather.

  • Test in an inconspicuous area

Before applying the cleaner to the entire chair, test it on a small, inconspicuous area of the leather to ensure it doesn't cause any discoloration or damage.

  • Clean the chair

Dip the soft cloth or sponge into the cleaning solution, then wring out any excess liquid. Gently wipe the entire surface of the leather chair, paying attention to any stains or spots. Avoid using excessive water or soaking the leather, as this can cause damage.

  • Rinse and remove soap residue

Rinse the cloth or sponge with clean water, then wipe down the chair again to remove any remaining soap residue. Make sure to thoroughly remove all traces of the cleaner.

  • Dry the chair

Use a clean, dry cloth to gently pat the chair's surface and absorb any excess moisture. Allow the chair to air dry naturally, away from direct heat sources, to prevent the leather from drying out or cracking.

  • Apply leather conditioner

Once the chair is completely dry, apply a small amount of leather conditioner to a clean cloth and gently rub it into the leather in a circular motion. This will help restore moisture and keep the leather soft and supple. Follow the instructions on the conditioner for best results.

  • Buff and polish

After applying the conditioner, use a separate clean cloth to buff the leather chair, giving it a nice shine and helping to remove any remaining residue.

Remember to always follow the manufacturer's instructions on any leather cleaning products you use, and be gentle when cleaning to avoid damaging the leather.

Conclusion

To sum up, picking the perfect brown leather office chair for executive offices is all about finding the right balance between comfort, style, durability, and practicality. By understanding your personal preferences and office needs, you can choose a chair that not only feels great but also looks fantastic and meets your professional requirements.
