Do I need a permit for a backyard office pod?

In most cases no permit is required, because a pod is usually treated as a backyard office shed rather than a permanent structure: under 120 sq ft, not on a permanent foundation, and plug-in rather than hardwired. Rules still vary by city, county and HOA, so confirm with your local office first. We can supply building plans if you need them.

Can a backyard office pod be used year-round?

Yes, with the right climate control. The WorkPod and StudioPod are insulated for a 45 to 100&#xb0;F range, while the compact MetroPod suits a milder 65 to 90&#xb0;F climate. Insulation keeps temperatures stable, which a bare outdoor office shed cannot, but it does not heat or cool the space, so pair a backyard office pod or a she shed with a mini-split, portable AC or a small heater for extreme seasons.

What is the interior ceiling height?

The MetroPod and StudioPod have flat ceilings at 7.25 feet. The WorkPod has a sloped ceiling that rises from 6.8 feet on the low side to 9.3 feet on the high side. The angled roof is the WorkPod's defining feature, and the 9.3 foot peak makes the 102 sq ft interior feel larger than a typical office shed of the same footprint.

How many outlets and lights are included?

The MetroPod has 2 wall outlets, 1 ceiling light and 1 Ethernet port. The WorkPod has 2 wall outlets plus 1 floor outlet, 1 ceiling light, 2 Ethernet ports and a built-in ventilator. The StudioPod has 5 wall outlets, 4 ceiling lights and 2 Ethernet ports, enough for heavier hardware or a backyard art studio.

How do I get internet to the pod?

All three pods include built-in Ethernet ports for a wired connection: the MetroPod has 1, and the WorkPod and StudioPod each have 2 gigabit ports. If running a cable to the backyard is not convenient, you can extend WiFi with a mesh system, use a point-to-point wireless bridge, or run a cable through the air-conditioner vent. Starlink is also available on the WorkPod.

Does it come pre-wired for power?

Every pod ships pre-wired. You run a single outdoor cable from your house to power the whole unit, and a 66 ft cable with connectors is included. Outlets, lighting and ventilation then work like a standard room, with the wiring hidden inside the walls, enough to run a man cave shed with a TV, console and mini-fridge. We recommend a 20A dedicated circuit for a full setup.

What ground do I need, and can it sit on a slope?

A pod can sit on concrete, brick, gravel or grass, as long as the ground is solid, level and well drained. Adjustable leveling feet, 4 on the MetroPod and 6 on the WorkPod and StudioPod, handle a slope up to 5 degrees, about 1 inch of rise per foot. Within that range you skip excavation and a poured slab. Level steeper ground first.

How much weight can the structure hold?

The structural feet support up to 2.9 tons on the WorkPod and StudioPod, and up to 2.3 tons on the MetroPod, so a pod easily carries a full office of desks and monitors, or the equipment in a backyard gym shed. Wall fixtures like frames, shelves and a TV under 20 lb are fine when mounted correctly, but ask us for the stud and electrical layout first, since power lines run inside the walls.

How soundproof are the pods?

All three pods are built to keep outside noise down, with a honeycomb inner wall layer and 8 mm tempered glass that muffle traffic, neighbors and yard sounds. They are sound-insulated rather than fully soundproof, so for podcasting or recording in a backyard music studio you can add acoustic panels inside. For everyday calls and focused work, the quiet is a clear step up from the house.

Can I add solar power?

Solar is available on the WorkPod and StudioPod, not the MetroPod. The WorkPod uses three 430W panels and the StudioPod four 460W panels, both with a 10.2 kWh battery. Every WorkPod and StudioPod ships pre-wired for solar, so you can add it at purchase or upgrade later. Keep total load under 3,000W.

Shipping is currently free to the 48 contiguous US states. Your pod arrives flat-packed in 3 crates on a single truck, and the driver unloads them near your front door. Backyard delivery is free when a clear path at least 9 ft wide can reach the spot; if the path is narrower or has stairs, a &#x24;500 long-carry fee applies.

Can I assemble it myself, and how long does setup take?

Yes. Pods are flat-packed and DIY friendly, simpler than framing a backyard office shed from scratch, and most owners build with 2 to 3 people. A professional crew takes about 1 to 1.5 days; a DIY build takes 2 to 3 days. You will need basic tools like a level, wrench, rubber hammer and silicone gun, and we can suggest local installers.

How long is the warranty?

All three pods come with a 1-year warranty on materials and workmanship, counted from the delivery date. To activate it, send photos of the main assembly steps within 14 days of your build. The structural shell and wall system are built for 15+ years of normal use, and wear parts like the ventilator and door hardware stay user-serviceable.
